Artificial intelligence…the Chinese Kimi Ka3 competes with OpenAI and Anthropic

The launch of the new Chinese model of artificial intelligence caused a stir in the sector, raising fears of the erosion of American companies’ superiority over Chinese companies in this very important field.

According to the Chinese company, the new artificial intelligence model, “Kimi Ka3”, which consists of 2.8 trillion parameters, is considered the largest open source artificial intelligence model in the world to date.

It is noteworthy that the number of transactions is an indicator of the capacity and complexity of any system. The company will make this model fully and freely available to developers in all countries of the world by the end of July.

Moonshot said while announcing the results of the model test that “Kemi Ka3” outperforms similar US artificial intelligence models such as Cloud Opus 4.8 from Anthropic and GPT 5.5 from OpenAI, at least when it comes to performing the tasks of writing software codes and in complex applications.

At the same time, Moonshot admitted that the new model is still slightly less efficient than leading US models, especially Anthropic’s Claude Fipple 5 and OpenAI’s brand new GPT 5.6 Soul, but noted that the gap with superior US models is closing quickly.

Observers say this development is reminiscent of the “Deep Sick Moment” in early 2025, when the emergence of the Chinese artificial intelligence model Deep Sick challenged the perception of American hegemony and led to a sharp decline in the shares of global technology companies.

Since then, Chinese AI models have grown in importance globally, in part because many of them are available as free open source software and are therefore generally less expensive to run than their Western counterparts.
