The company designed the “GPT Rosalind” model, named after twentieth-century British scientist Rosalind Franklin, to support research in biochemistry, drug discovery and translational medicine.
Pharmaceutical companies, academic institutions and biotechnology companies have increased demand for tools supported by artificial intelligence to accelerate drug discovery and research.
“By supporting evidence synthesis, hypothesis generation, experimental planning and other multi-step research tasks, we designed this model to help researchers accelerate the early stages of discovery,” OpenAI said in a blog post.
The company explained at a press conference that researchers using the model will be able to search databases, read the latest scientific articles, use other scientific tools and propose new experiments.
Built on the latest internal models, OpenAI (GPT Rosalind) is available as a trial versionfor searching the GPT chat application and programming toolusing AI Codex and API for qualified customers through the company’s Trusted Access Deployment Architecture.
The company is also launching a free bioscience research plug-in for Codex, which connects researchers to more than 50 scientific instruments and data sources.
OpenAI confirmed that they are working with customers such as Amgen, Moderna, Thermo Fisher Scientific and others to use GPT Rosalind in their work.
